Arezzo: Christmas Markets and Tyrolean Village

Arezzo is preparing to once again wear the colors and flavors of Christmas with the return of the Tyrolean Village, from November 16, 2024. The initiative, which is part of the ”Arezzo City of Christmas 2024“ event and organized by Confcommercio with the support of the Arezzo-Siena Chamber of Commerce and Banca Tema, enjoys the patronage of the Municipality of Arezzo and the collaboration with the Arezzo Intour Foundation and Discover Arezzo.This year too, the city of Giorgio Vasari will host the largest Tyrolean Village in Italy, which will once again animate Piazza Grande with a variety of events and attractions. The ninth edition offers a rich and diverse program: in addition to the traditional Christmas market, the Baite dei Sapori will allow you to taste typical products, while the Big Lights Show will illuminate the buildings of Piazza Grande with plays of light and color. Visitors will be able to explore crafts, gift ideas and the Casa delle Castagne, also taking part in guided tours that, through special “Christmas in Arezzo” packages, will allow you to discover the beauties of the historic center.From November 16 to December 29, the Baite del Gusto will offer a Tyrolean culinary journey in the heart of Arezzo, becoming the gastronomic hub of the Tirolese Village. In this edition, visitors will be able to immerse themselves in typical flavors thanks to three dedicated huts where they can taste specialties such as stuffed pretzels, raclette, spätzle, canederli and the famous roast shin, all accompanied by selections of craft beers. To complete the offer, the Casetta delle Castagne and the Baita della Birra for an authentic experience that will make the visit to the Arezzo Christmas Markets even richer. The Tirolese Village will have a flexible calendar: it will be open from Thursday to Sunday until December 19 and then every day from December 23 to 29. 
A great novelty is coming for those seeking the authentic Christmas spirit: Santa Claus's House is moving to the historic Fortezza Medicea, transforming it into a meeting point between the past and magic. The new kingdom of Santa Claus will be open until January 6 and will offer a magical experience for adults and children over an area of ​​over 10,000 square meters. Visitors will have the opportunity to explore unique Christmas settings, including shelters dug into the rock where Santa Claus and his elves will welcome children, offering activities such as games, workshops, interactive installations, the Lemax village and the Planetarium. A truly immersive journey that enriches the Arezzo Christmas offering, integrating history and tradition with a highly impactful scenographic context.Among the main attractions, the Lego Brick House in Piazza Grande will not be missing, returning to the evocative Palazzo di Fraternita, where over 40 works of art made with the famous bricks will give life to a world entirely made of Lego: from large installations to mosaics to the minute details that will amaze adults and children. 
As evening falls, the atmosphere of Piazza Grande will be animated by the Big Lights Show, a show of light projections on the facades of the buildings curated by the Arezzo Intour Foundation, scheduled every day from 5 to 9 pm. This show of lights, colors and music will make the experience of the Tyrolean Village even more engaging, creating a unique and festive environment for visitors.The events continue with special initiatives such as Christmas Balloons 2024: on Saturday 23 November, starting at 5 pm, Piazza Sant'Agostino will be filled with over two thousand bright balloons to hold in your hand. An event that includes musical entertainment, shows and the offer of a bright Christmas balloon to each participant, to make the Arezzo Christmas atmosphere even more lively. 
Also not to be missed is the return of Gioiello in Vetrina, a regular event in the Cloister of the Library of Arezzo during the Antiques Fair scheduled for November 30 and December 1. This exhibition-market will offer unique pieces of local goldsmithing, watches and diamonds, promoting the tradition and mastery of Arezzo goldsmiths in an exclusive context.During the weekends, it will also be possible to participate in the guided tours “Arezzo and the magic of Christmas”, to discover the historical and artistic beauties of the Tuscan city, including the cathedral of San Donato, the Pieve di Santa Maria and Piazza Grande, where the Tirolese Village welcomes the public.
